About

Arthur Jussen is a Dutch pianist.

Arthur Joussen (born 28 September 1996 in Hilversum, The Netherlands) has been performing in public since early childhood and often together as a piano duet with his brother. He comes from a musical family: his mother Christian van Gelder teaches the flute, and his father Paul Jussen is a timpani in the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Hilversum and a drummer in the Ensemble Da Capo. Arthur Jussen is a student of piano teacher Jan Wein. He lived and studied with Maria Joao Pires and played with pianists Ricardo Castro and Lang Lang. On 24 November 2006 he played Piano Concerto No. 10 (Mozart) at the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) with the Dutch Radio Chamber Philharmonic under the baton of Jaap van Zweden. On 30 November 2009 he performed the Concerto for Two Pianos (Poulenc) with the same orchestra under the baton of Michael Schönwandt. The Jussen brothers signed with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft on March 12, 2010 and recorded concerts by Mozart and Poulenc, as well as other duet and solo works. After two years of study with Menachem Pressler in the United States from October 2013, Lucas continued his education with Dmitry Bashkirov at the Reina Sofia School of Music in Madrid. He is also an artist at the residence of the Dutch Chamber Orchestra. Arthur studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Jan Wein.
