About
The Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini is a youth orchestra in Piacenza and Ravenna, Italy.
Sometimes it is also referred to as the Luigi Cherubini Orchestra or simply Cherubini Orchestra. The name derives from the Italian composer Luigi Cherubini.
The orchestra was founded in 2004 by Riccardo Muti. He has since been musical director of the ensemble, which is engaged in both activities in the field of opera and symphonic music.
A foundation takes over the organization of the performances, members are admitted to the orchestra, if they have qualified by an audition for it. Persons who are nationals of a Member State of the EU and have studied at conservatoires are eligible; participation is limited to the age of 18 to 27 years.
