About

After studying in London, Laurent Naouri soon found himself appearing on numerous national and international stages. His highly diverse repertoire includes some forty roles, ranging from early baroque to contemporary opera. Several character performances have marked his career: the four demonic roles from The Tales of Hoffmann in Paris, Madrid, Orange, Zurich, Milan, Barcelona, Munich and New York’s Metropolitan Opera, Golaud from Pelléas et Mélisande at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris with Bernard Haitink conducting, then in Glasgow, Salzburg, and Berlin with Simon Rattle, followed by Madrid and Barcelona.

His other roles include Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro in Aix and Tokyo, the title role in Falstaff in Lyon, Santa Fe and Glyndebourne, Pandolfe in Cinderella in Barcelona, Sharpless in Madame Butterfly at the New York Metropolitan Opera, and Germont in La Traviata in Santa Fe, Tokyo and Dallas.
More recently, he performed the role of Mephistopheles (La Damnation de Faust) at the Lyon Opera, then a concert version of the work with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Soon thereafter he sang Fieramosca (Benvenuto Cellini) at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, the Marquis de La Force(Dialogues des Carmélites) at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Golaud in a partial stage version in Los Angeles then in the Katie Mitchell production at the Aix Festival. After performing in Berlioz’s Romeo and Juliet in Stuttgart as well as at the London Proms, he sang numerous roles, including Escamillo in a concert version of Carmen at the Verbier Festival, Ruprecht (in Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel) at the Lyon Opera, and Capulet (Romeo and Juliet) at the New York Metropolitan Opera. He also performs in recital alongside Natalie Dessay and Maciej Pikulski with a programme dedicated to French Melody.

Projects:
Somarone in a concert version of Béatrice et Bénédict at the Paris Opera
